LONDON 10k RUN TO PARTNER MANDELA WALK

January 2009

On 12 July 2009, 12 runners will take to the streets of central London to run for the Donald Woods Foundation's schools programme. This is in partnership with dozens of students who are taking up the Foundation's second Qunu ~ Miller Mission Challenge on 4 April 2009 in Mbashe district, to recreate Mandela's 34km walk, aged 7, to see Doctor Lex Soga.

The purpose of this event is to highlight the difficulty rural people face in accessing healthcare. This relay run is to Miller Mission, where Mandela was treated by Dr Soga, who also treated Donald Woods at his birth. Miller Mission is also where Donald Woods' parents are buried.
