Medical Research
- Madwaleni’s HIV department is working closely with Professor Gary Maarten’s Clinical Pharmacology Department at the University of Cape Town to analyse the clinical and health economic related outcomes of the Madwaleni HIV wellness and ARV programme.
- The Stellenbosch University’s Centre for Rehabilitation is also involved in research initiatives at Madwaleni through Ms. Gubela Mji.
Student Attachments - Madwaleni Hospital is currently:
- a rural site for training of Stellenbosch health professional undergraduates. This is with the Stellenbosch-based Ukwanda Center for Rural Health (Dr Hoffie Conradie) and the Tygerberg Department of Family Medicine (Professor Pierre De Villiers).
- involved with the training of medical elective students from the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Stellenbosch and University of Cape Town.
- in the process of becoming a recognised district hospital site for the training of the post graduate family medicine students from both Walter Sisulu University and the University of Stellenbosch.
