The Donald Woods Foundation has launched a new Eastern Cape Book Drive to collect good quality, second-hand children\u2019s books, textbooks and books on Xhosa culture and history, in English or Xhosa, as well as Xhosa-language books of any description.<\/p>\n

The books will be made available to thousands of under-resourced learners in the impoverished Mbashe region of the Eastern Cape, where the Donald Woods Centre is located and where the DWF runs its multi-pronged health, education and economic development initiatives.<\/p>\n

One of these projects involves the promotion of literacy and learning skills by matching rural children with little or no access to learning materials with age-appropriate books and educational resources.<\/p>\n

Please assist us in bringing the gift of learning to children who desperately need even the most basic resources.<\/p>\n

Currently, donations gratefully accepted at our offices at the Chamberlain Guest House, 61 Chamberlain Rd, Vincent, East London, but we are desperately looking for ways to broaden this appeal to cover a larger region of the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
